  • Andy Newman , DVM

We are pleased to welcome Dr. Andy Newman to our hospital. He will join our veterinarian team who work closely together to provide excellent, comprehensive, state of the art veterinary services to our patients and clients. We invite you to get to know Dr. Newman…

Some of my earliest and fondest memories are of being awoken by the train thundering past the walls of my father’s veterinary emergency clinic in Hartford, Connecticut. I would frequently spend the night there, taking in the thrilling experience of a 24-hour shift at a bustling, metropolitan veterinary hospital. I was raised in the profession as my father, stepmother, and stepfather are all practicing small animal veterinarians. With all of these great experiences and being surrounded by people who are committed to caring for animals, I could not help but grow to love the field.

I spent my college years attending North Carolina State University in Raleigh. There, I graduated cum laude in 1999 with a B.S. in Zoology and went on to the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. I was able to tailor my education to suit my interests which included special studies involving avian, reptile, amphibian and aquatic animal medicine and surgery. I was an active member in the Turtle Team, where students donated their time to the care of injured wildlife turtles and tortoises. I graduated in 2004 as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Zeta honor societies and have worked as a veterinarian in our community since then.

Currently I reside in Apopka with my wife Stacy and our 1 year old son Jack. We share our home with: an eight year old Saluki named Caliph; a sixteen year old Maine Coon named Psycho Kitty and Sidney a Senegal Parrot. What “me time” I have is enjoyed playing golf, watching movies and reading historical fiction.
