Andy Newman , DVM
|
Dr. Andy Newman grew up in a "Veterinary" family. His father, stepmother, and stepfather are all practicing small animal veterinarians. With all of these great experiences and being surrounded by people who are committed to caring for animals, he could not help but grow to love the feild. Some of his earliest and fondest memories are of being awoken by the train thundering past the walls of his father’s veterinary emergency clinic in Hartford, Connecticut. He would frequently spend the night there, taking in the thrilling experience of a 24-hour shift at a bustling, metropolitan veterinary hospital. Dr. Newman spent his college years attending North Carolina State University in Raleigh. There, he graduated cum laude in 1999 with a B.S. in Zoology and went on to the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. He was able to tailor his education to suit his interests which included special studies involving avian, reptile, amphibian and aquatic animal medicine and surgery. Dr. Newman was an active member in the Turtle Team, where students donated their time to the care of injured wildlife, turtles and tortoises. He graduated in 2004 as a member of the Phi Beta Kappa and Phi Zeta honor societies and has worked as a veterinarian in our community since then.
Currently Dr. Newman resides in Apopka with his wife and son. They share their home with an eight year old Saluki named Caliph, a sixteen year old Maine Coon named Psycho Kitty and Sidney a Senegal Parrot.
